Make an object with YCN
Building on the success of collaborations in 2010, YCN will be launching a new collection of products in 2011. We’re inviting anyone to share an idea for a product that they would like to make with YCN. Following submissions, a complimentary selection of products will be chosen, and we will be collaborating with the originators to bring them to life.
Last year we created “Sign Mirror” with Peter Marigold an…d “Light up your Mood”, a sticker set with Henrietta Swift. These both demonstrate a playfulness of thought that we’d like to carry forward into new objects. All YCN products will contain this ‘playful utility’.
YCN has a physical shop at 72 Rivington Street in London as well as our online store. We will also be extending the collection to other suitable retailers internationally to have maximum exposure to new audiences. As an agency YCN has already established itself as a strong producer of design and advertising in many types of media, and for a diverse range of clients. In continuation of this multi-disciplined approach, we are extremely excited about the opportunity to demonstrate this creative thinking through objects.
All successful proposals that we choose to launch will receive a design fee and royalty based contract.
Think ‘playful utility’. The YCN collection will be made up of exceptional products; we are looking for originality, quality and objects that make people smile.
Think scale. YCN products need to be easy to ship and distribute. Online sales will be a big part of the project, so size matters. 1 metre x 1 metre should be a maximum size package your object would fit into.
We believe good ideas can come from anywhere, so please feel free to submit even the most basic description or demonstration of your product.
We need to walk before we can run, and be realistic about what we can produce as part of our initial collection. While YCN will lead and manage the sourcing of production partners we won’t be able to launch complicated feats of engineering. Please don’t discount handmade ideas, or those that may only be feasible in a small limited run.
We invite the confidential submission ideas to Camilla Sundwall – firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put YCN Products 2011 in the subject line. Feel free to communicate your idea in any way you wish, the simpler the better!
We will be reviewing suggestions on Friday 8th April so please share ideas with Camilla by this date
